| Staff Biography Shucks, howdy!!! My name is Joe, and I'm a Grade "A" Dork from the enchanted state of New Jersey (it's enchanted due to the warm glow). I have lived here my whole life, but have visited places all over the world. I'd be willing to live in other places in the world for a short while, but my heart belongs to NJ (now you all know how insane I am). I am a doctoral student at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in the wonderful city of dreams called Newark, NJ. At NJIT, I perfect both the art of procrastination and failure in the art of time management. I have great friends and a great family, and I have the uncanny ability to shake exactly two Tylenol out of the bottle every time. I have saved many people from overdosing with this ability. My interests range from video games (God's gift to us all) to movies and music to history to sports to anime (of course) to comics to books and computers to school (I guess when you go as far in school as I have, it has to be an interest). Anyway, I spend most of my time wasting other people's time. Also with the help of my cohorts Tolu and Jim, we are studying the effects of caffeine and alcohol on the hand-eye coordination of humans. More specifically, finding the optimum number of beers one must consume in order to produce the best individual performance in Ms. Pac-Man (stand-up arcade machine ONLY!!!). The study has progressed, but there is still much work to be done. We do have other research projects in the works, but nothing as developed as the Ms. Pac-Man study. I think you get the idea of who I am and what I do. Now allow me to explain why you should care about my writing on Anime 3000. I am an avid watcher of anime, whether it is on DVDs released in the US or downloaded from fansub groups. My anime watching goes back to when I was just a little Joey in grammar school, and my friend showed me Ranma ½. I absolutely loved it. Not only was it hilarious, but it also opened my eyes to a whole new world of animated shows. I didn’t have to settle for the evil mouse’s spoon-fed propaganda. The next anime that I watched was Akira. If you thought that Ranma ½ hooked me before, Akira had a bigger impact on me. I went from wanting more anime to needing it. As the years went by, I watched many different anime series, whether it was recommended to me by a friend or something that I happened to run across. The amount of anime that I watched increased, but it wasn’t until the death of American television (Reality TV and crappy cartoons about Mexican wrestlers) that anime became my main bread and butter. |
