Information
The newest installment of Yu-Gi-Oh! is extremely impressive. It reminds me of Harry Potter. The series takes place ten years after the ceremonial battle. Yuki Joins the Duelist Academy in hopes of being the King of Games. The biggest draw to the series is the main character Jaden Yuki.

Students are separated into different classes. Starting from the top you have the Obelisk Blue, Ra Yellow and Slifer Red. If these names sound familiar, they are Egyptian God cards from the original series. The Obelisk Blue represents the elite class of duelist. They are the top of the ladder in the Duelist Academy. In the middle, you have the Ra Yellow. Of course Jaden Yuki is in the lowest group, Slifer Red. What confuses me is that he is enrolled into the school by defeating the Headmaster of the Obelisk Blue house, Dr. Vellian Crowler. Due to this humiliating defeat, Dr. Crowler who resembles and cross dressing clown, has a vendetta against Yuki.

Yuki is surrounded by your typical Anime characters. Nevertheless, each one adds to the overwhelming charm of this series. Jaden Yuki is the main character of this series. Much like Yugi of the original series, Jaden posseses an undiniable talent. With his low standing, he manages to defeat numerous high ranking members of Obelisk Blue. I enjoy watching the battles and predicting the different combinations of his deck. There is even an air of unpredictability in his matches. Unlike the star of the original series, you don't know if he's going to win every duel. It wasn't until his defeat against Zane Truesdale, the top duelist in the academy, that I thought he was unbeatable. He was even offered a chance to move to Ra Yellow, but turned it down. His most admirable trait is his confidence. He makes for an inspiring role model for kids who don't believe in themselves.

Yuki's best friend Syrus serves as a perfect foil. He's small, awkward and struggles with every duel. Essentially he plays Yuki's sidekick in the series. What sets him apart from Joey Wheeler or any other sidekick is that his brother is Zane. If you recall, Zane is the number one duelist in the school. Syrus' inferiority complex only serves to bring out Yuki's good qualities.

Zane is a reucurring character in the series, but hasn't been featured too prominently. We know he is considered the best and have seen him in action. He is similiar to Seto Kiba on the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series. The biggest moment featuring Zane came when he was revealed to be Syrus' older brother.

Alexis Rhodes is a prominent member of the Obelisk Blue group. Even though she was beaten by Yuki, Alexis is Yuki's direct link to the most elite group in the Duelist Academy. There is a slight tinge of romance between the two also. In a delightful twist, Alexis also appears to be close to Zane.

Bastion Misawa is the only featured character in the Ra Yellow group. He is the smartest student in the school and an amazing duelist. His dueling strategy deals with his ability to create complex mathematical equations to explain every aspect of his life. His biggest role in the series to date came when he battled Yuki's number one nemesis, Chazz Princeton.

Chumley Huffington starts off as a loner that is obviously jealous of Yuki's newfound attention. However, after a few heartfelt experiences, Chumley quickly grows close to Yuki and Syrus. His deck is comprised of almost all marsupials, not to mention he looks like a Kola.

There are more characters that make this show fun to watch, but don't take my word for it (wink, wink). This is my guilty pleasure and I look forward to every episode. If you like Naruto, you'll enjoy this show. Just take out the ninjitsu and insert intense card playing.
