Well this story involves some more of those angelic beings, but has some strange twists to it. Getting to it, the main character is Morisato Keiichi, student at Nekomi Institute of Technology for mechanical engineering (He loves cars and motorcycles and such). He lives at an all male dorm, and is generally a kind of loser guy; aims high for girls, gets rejected, all that jazz. Until one night when he goes to make a phone call and accidentally reaches the Goddess Relief Agency…Que? Yeah so, an angel comes pretty much out of nowhere by the name of Belldandy. She’s the epitome of innocent, kind hearted…uhm, angelic? She grants Keiichi one wish and he states the first thing he thinks of and its for Belldandy to stay with him forever. Poof! Wish is approved (through God on the hotline apparently). And thus the story begins.

Well Keiichi gets kicked out, all male dorm and his sempai’s have weird habits anyhow so time to get out of there. They eventually wind up taking care of a temple, how convenient but whatever. So to further complicate the story, Belldandy can’t really leave Keiichi’s side for then this force will step into action to bring them together, and especially when someone tries to separate them, bad voodoo there. So Keiichi keeps things well together by telling lots of LIES! That little liar, oh well, everyone is infatuated with Belldandy anyhow on campus, including the self-proclaimed queen Sayoko.

Sayoko is wealthy, beautiful, and a complete stuck-up (insert mean words here). And she’s also the girl Keiichi decided to go after, and was horribly denied by. Everything was going fine for her until Belldandy shows up though, because Belldandy is that much more beautiful and immediately becomes the focus of her fans and such. So she likes to cause problems and seems to think there’s something more to Belldandy than Keiichi wants to say…

Aoshima is Sayoko’s cousin and equal on campus, the little playboy that he is. His deal is that he’s completely obsessed with Belldandy and vies after her constantly and can’t believe why someone like Keiichi can have her and not him…arrogant little (insert harsh curses). He also seems to think there’s more to Belldandy, and thus soon joins with his cousin to find out.

Along with those troubles, more to come here, Belldandy’s older sister Urd comes along. She is in charge of maintaining the Yrgdrassil system that maintains the Goddesses and the Earth basically. She comes down because Keiichi’s wish seems to be affecting the system, claiming that he’s abusing his free wish (oh come on, it’s his wish!). Urd is prone to using her powers openly and causing trouble there, and more or less molesting after Keiichi sometimes. Urd’s connection to heaven is through TV sets, is a master of potions, likes sake and karaoke.

And then there’s Belldandy’s younger sister Skuld who’s connection is through water (Belldandy’s is through mirrors by the way). Skuld is a mechanical genius but is often rash and makes mistakes with her inventions. She also hates Keiichi and Belldandy’s relationship and tries always to keep them apart.

There’s a few other characters such as Keiichi’s classmates, his sister Megumi, and then there’s the demon girl that happens to be awakened. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that yet. So there’s this demon girl who was sealed away long ago. Basically such as there are Angels to do good, there are demons to do evil and thus preserve balance in the world. She plays a big role in bringing about the end of the world also.

Yeah so there’s a lot going on in this anime all at once, and they definitely could have made it longer if they wished. But alas, no such luck. But we’re left with a decent anime anyhow, and it comes with a happy ending to everything so that’s good also. This one is more popular in the manga form, but worth seeing at least once in video. So check it out if you wish, or try calling random numbers until you get your own Goddess to come keep you company. Later days.
