| Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Psychological, Romance, Shoujo, Supernatural Let's start this one off with some depression! Well that doesn't sound right. Unfortunately that's what this anime has a lot of... although depression seems to go hand-in-hand with "drama" so whatever. If that's your thing, check this out. Everything seems to be peachy keen at first; happiness and all that jazz. We start out by meeting the twins Aya (the girl) and Aki (the boy) Mikage. They get along well, and live out normal teenage lives, yay. On their sixteenth birthday they are invited to the main branch’s home to ‘celebrate’ this happy occasion. Well not really. Its more like the head of the family is trying to see if Aya has the reincarnate form of a beautiful angel who’s bent on destroying the Mikage family. And she does possess this angelic form. Told you, drama. So the family kidnaps and isolates Aki and tries to kill off Aya. Well the angel doesn’t really feel like dying today, so instead she takes out half the room by randomly making everyone explode. Fun times. This series gets its name from the name of the angel, Ceres. Maybe a little background is necessary here. A long time ago, angels were in the habit of coming down to earth and taking baths in hot springs, first of course taking off their celestial robes. This genius guy (great ancestor of the Mikage) decides it would be a good idea to steal the angel Ceres’ robe and hold it ransom. You see, without her robe, she is unable to return to heaven. That sneaky monkey Mikage…So then he marries her, has children, and then there’s some more craziness that ensues, but for that you have to watch. Now back in present times, immediately after brutally murdering half her family, Aya is freaking out. She is rescued by this mysterious guy who comes out of nowhere, Touya. Now he has some crazy stuff going on with him too. I won’t say all, but he does have the ability to call forth this dagger out of thin air, but how does he do it…. Aki meanwhile possesses the spirit of the ancestral sneaky monkey Mikage. So he turns into a complete jerk and we don’t like him anymore. But the Mikage family is trying to control him since he possesses supernatural powers as well. They are also trying to call forth other estranged family members angelic powers to try to combat Ceres, for fear of being destroyed by her. Okay so all in all, its pretty messed up. But there is a lot of good character detail and an interesting plot line. And yes, lots of drama stuff. Not really my thing seeing as how life provides ample amounts of drama for me, but whatever keeps you smiling. Later days sneaky monkeys. -Kyo- |
