Review* Adventures of Scamper by Colton Haupt (Gatts) Genre: Action, Fantasy Have you ever heard of an anime that no one else has? Well if you haven't then you will have now. Scamper is a penguin that lives in Antarctica. While still in his egg a group of hawks fly down and snatch up the penguin colony of eggs. Luckily, Scamper’s dad was brave enough to save him no matter what; his dad got very scratched up but was ok. While saving Scamper he saved another egg; this egg eventually became Scamper’s best friend, Snowflake, and she was a cute pink penguin. Snowflake’s mom was most appreciative of Scamper’s father and his courage. When Scamper becomes of age he is entered into a school that teaches penguins how to slide. Scamper is an adventurous Penguin and loves wandering off. He eventually wanders off and gets lost; he runs into a Russian laboratory studying penguins. There he meets a dog, Cowboy, and plays with him for awhile. While there he asks if Cowboy would give him a ride back, and of course Cowboy complies. When Scamper returns home, his parents are frustrated with him. Scamper, in a fury, runs off with Snowflake. He believes he can fly and he takes Snowflake with him to a cliff to fly; obviously penguins can’t fly so after jumping off he somehow lands on an iceberg. The two drift off to sea and are very scared. They finally get picked up by a poaching boat. While on the boat they are thrown into a cage; they devise a plan to escape and they head for the deck, where they meet a macaroni penguin and he stays with them the rest of their journey. They also meet a dog that is very old and stubborn, while on the deck. The dog creates a diversion, and the penguins escape to land. They eventually meet the Russian again and he takes them back on a snow mobile. There is much more to this story but it ruins the rest so I won’t give it away. This movie is rare to find in stores, but we happen to have a link here to buy it! Analyzing I grew up with this movie and I'm sure anyone will like this. It is a wholesome movie for all families and has a latent meaning dealing with real life and how society is changing; although children won’t pick it up, I’m sure any of you will!! This movie is frankly the best children’s anime I have ever seen and is definitely better than hello kitty! Audio - C+ sound quality isn’t very good Animation A- very good for old children’s anime Dub - well done b+ Japanese - none Replay value - b+ Plus - very good for children Minus - can’t find it on DVD and may be to young for older adults Overall - B |
