Review* Record of Lodoss War {OVA 13 ep}
by Colton Haupt (Gatts) Head Reviewer*
Quite possibly out of all the anime I have seen Lodoss War may be one of the few greats. I encountered this anime when I was eleven and it was my first anime I had seen despite the ones on television. My great cousin Stepden Everingham had mentioned the anime to me and my sister and for that i owe him my life. My sister and I went out to Suncoast and bought the first two VHS tapes. Yes that was way before the DVD anime era came, and also we didn’t even have a DVD player. We came into this anime with no expectations so you know i thought it was just going to be a regular thing. After the opening of this anime, yes the opening, Me and Sasha new we had something special! the crisp drawings the amazing song and great sound effects. Till this day I know that I have never seen an anime above this, berserk is equal not above, and so i do this review for the good of the anime community and for the world. I will review the whole first series because it was all released on one DVD.

Marfa and Kardis are great gods that are in a clash of good and evil. They had such a battle that they split up 2 continents and created "Lodoss the cursed island". Now many years later Lodoss is at war and need to win over the evils of the land; Parn, Deedlit, Slayn, Woodchuck, and Ghim come together to go on the epic journey to kill the soul of the gods that live on. Deedlit is a High elf that uses magic at her will and cares for the nature surrounding her. Parn is a descendant of Lodoss's most fearsome warrior. Slayn is his best friend. Slayn is a mage trying to learn the arts of ancient magic. Ghim is sent on the mission of rescuing Lelia; the beautiful Dwarvin princess that was taken by the soul of Marfa. It corrupted her and the village hasn’t seen her for years. this is actually the culmination of the story which you will find out later on. Woodchuck is a thief that they find in a castle dungeon, while playing cards with guards woodchuck is the one that makes this anime a comedy. I won’t go into greater detai; about this anime because I really just want all of you out there o watch it! I can’t explain it. It sparks a light in my heart that can never be put out and It deserves that places in every anime fans heart. ALSO ASHRAM AND CASHEW ARE IMPORTANT CHARACTERS DONT THINK I FORGOT THEM I JUST WANT YOU GUYS TO FIND OUT FOR YOURSLEF!!!

Synopsis

Lodoss is not comparable to another anime, well not in terms of story. It is RPG based, not off of a video game but it runs like an RPG, which makes it unique in its own way. It is based during the sane time as Berserk, or should I say same era. Berserk is the only anime that I honestly can say lives up to Lodoss War. Lodoss War was released in 1991 and that’s why so many have not seen this anime. That’s why I review it and tell everyone that its worth more than your money and will be an anime for generations to come.
