Review* Hellsing Volume 01 by Colton Haupt (Gatts) |

| My approach to this review and many reviews after this is quite different. I thought they were a little bland so I will be adding music and pictures that pertain to the review; also I will be reviewing by DVD releases and movie releases. With that said here we go. Hellsing starts by explaining the Hellsing Organization: They are an organization that kills undead and vampires for the protection of the good people of England. Alucard is their best man, or is he a man? Actually, he’s a vampire who owes his life to the Hellsing family. Alucard wields two awesome guns and wears a great looking red suit. The Hellsing organization begins by fighting a fearsome vampire. The Vampire had actually penetrated into a church and is stowing away there. While his minions kill many of the Hellsing Organization’s army, there is still back up…Alucard. Alucard shows up to the church and happens to meet a police girl in there named Victoria. She gets fatally wounded by the vampire and Alucard gets hurt as well. Actually, Alucard can regenerate himself so there was no damage done to him. He then uses his gun and destroys the Vampire. Mean while Victoria is bleeding to death and is about to die! Alucard asks her earnestly if she wants to live, and would serve her master at any costs. She begs for him to save her and yes, Victoria becomes a vampire. She is supposed to obey her masters every order's and from this point on in the anime, Alucard refers to Victoria as police girl. The story goes on and follows these two vampire teens rampaging through small homes and brutally killing and drinking the blood of their victims. They happen to be a couple and are runaways. The forces of Hellsing eventually catch up to them and kill them, well actually the force I’m talking about was Alucard but hey, he rules! Meanwhile Integra, the head of the Hellsing Organization gives commands to train Victory to be a sharp shooter. Victoria agreed but thought it was impossible to shoot the guns they showed her because of the guns enormous size and weight. As a vampire your strength has no limits and Victoria realizes this when she picks up the weapon. Her first target is this man with a lady walking in a back ally. It was a minor task and the whole Hellsing Organization was there if any problems persisted. Victoria could not shoot she didn’t know why but she failed her first task. When she gets back to headquarters, Alucard is waiting and tells her to drink blood. That is the only way vampires can rejuvenation their strength. She refuses and as a result, suffers from exhaustion. The next mission is to kill Alexandere Anderson {my favorite in Hellsing} he is a seven foot seven priest whose mission is to exterminate unholy beings and damn them to hell! Well, Anderson hits Victoria with one of the huge blessed long knifes he carries and puts her out for the count. The battle between him an Alucard is now in a rage and it seems Alexander is immune to the bullets of Alucard’s guns! Then out of the blue Alucard gets bombarded with twenty long knives and the episode fades out. To find out go buy the whole series of Hellsing! Analyzing A typical thirteen episode anime doesn’t seem too appealing, but it is not a let down to any degree in this case. The first DVD is a sure thriller that even had I the person who lusts for blood hanging in my seat! I soon realized thirteen episodes because of what the anime represents nothing more nothing less. I can’t wait for what the next dvd has in store, but until then you’ll have to have the "What Happens" feeling in your gut. Hellsing is rated for older teens for the sheer dark culture aspect to it, if you can get around that there is only violence and tame swearing. Overall a great teen rated anime! Audio: A+ for the sake of Alexander Andersons perfect voice actor, and Alucard deserves some credit, and music compilation Animation: B- I love some scenes of Hellsing but you can totally tell which animator did which and also it has too much of a new wave type art Dub: B besides the 2 voices mentioned above nothing note worthy Japanese: A+ very well done thoughts all there is to say Replay value: B moderate replay value Pluses: Who doesn’t like blood and guts mixed with a little humor? Minuses: Sketchy animation and not a good plot summary from the get go Overall: B |
